ZyIMAGE and ZyIMAGE Webserver are now fully equipped
to process Asian languages for scanning, OCR, full-text retrieval
and fuzzy search.
Bagshot, May 9, 2003 - ZyLAB, a leading developer
of document imaging and full-text retrieval software, announced
today that its signature software, ZyIMAGE, now fully supports Korean,
Chinese and Japanese languages. Given the current global need for
searching and recognition technology in Asian languages, ZyLAB gave
high priority to the development of this new functionality, which
will be marketed as the ZyIMAGE Asian Optical Character Recognition
(OCR) module.
ZyIMAGE already contained full support for over 90 languages, including
all European languages (even Greek and those with Cyrillic characters),
as well as Arabic, Farsi, and many African languages. The ZyIMAGE
interface is available in 17 languages.
ZyIMAGE's Asian OCR module includes support for:
-
Full-text indexing, including fuzzy search support
for Korean, Japanese and Chinese (new and traditional)
-
Optical Character Recognition (OCR) for Korean,
Japanese and Chinese (new and traditional)
-
Preprocessing segmentation for the OCR engine,
which optimizes the recognition of horizontal and vertical text
orientation.
-
Transliteration support for Korean, Japanese and
Chinese (new and traditional)
"We are pleased to announce the delivery of full Asian-language
support in ZyIMAGE," says Johannes Scholtes, president of ZyLAB
North America, LLC. "Not only can we now fully support our existing
customers in the Far East, but we can also provide an even more
comprehensive solution for our customers in the international law
enforcement and intelligence community."

and marketing efforts on ZyIMAGE, a move aimed at delivering the
best search engine available for large paper collections. As a result,
ZyLAB now has a full solution to archive, search, find, organize,
