Paper and webinar address the challenges of differing priorities and levels of understanding between the departments
ZyLAB today announced the release of their latest white paper entitled “ Litigation and Compliance: Bridging the Gap between Legal and IT ”, written by Chris Dale of the eDisclosure Information Project.
The white paper explores the challenges of differing priorities and levels of understanding between legal and IT and offers insight into a way to bridge the gap and work towards a common aim: increased efficiency and reduced organizational risk. Download the white paper.
Chris Dale of The eDisclosure Information Project explains the need for this campaign: “Companies are ill-prepared for litigation because their records management policies and e-discovery processes are misaligned. Ideally, enterprises should have a governance, risk management and compliance structure with oversight of all the disciplines and functions within the company. In most cases, however, the people who perceive the value are not necessarily those who would most benefit from it, and those who have the need are not necessarily the ones who are aware of the possible solu¬tions.”
Johannes Scholtes, Chief Strategy Officer of ZyLAB, commented: “Information management is more than just saving documents and making them accessible. Even more importantly, companies need to understand that information management is not exclusively the responsibility of IT, but a business-crucial shared-responsibility with legal. What we are talking about is in fact legal Information Management and the importance of solid legal information management becomes truly visible with the threat of litigation or an e-discovery. Both the department that is responsible for document and record management, and the legal team should align to be educated and knowledgeable about the consequences of a possible e-discovery or litigation.”
The white paper takes the reader through the relationship between Information Management and eDiscovery and considers all of the stakeholders and their requirements. It points out the human and budgetary restraints, and potential scenarios that can be considered to meet the differing objectives.
Following the publication of the white paper, ZyLAB is hosting a free webinar on 1st December where both Chris Dale and Johannes Scholtes will discuss this topic in depth, giving the audience a chance to question them directly at the end. This webinar is free for all interested parties. Registration is open online.
